Das Pariser Sextett L’Impératrice meldet sich mit „Fou/Exit“ zurück. Sie geben uns damit eine funky, tanzbare Nummer mit lustigem Video mit auf den Weg.
Nach zwei ereignisreichen Jahren auf Tour haben L’Impératrice nun mit „Fou“ eine neue Single veröffentlicht. „Fou“ – französisch für verrückt – verkörpert die Auflösung des dekadenten letzten Jahrzehnts und verspricht, auch für die Zukunft ein Schlagwort zu sein. Somit greift das Sextett natürlich auch musikalisch auf zwei Epochen zurück. Glamour und Glanz treffen auf Unbekümmertheit und Funk – auf der Tanzfläche versteht sich.
Produziert wurde der Track von Renaud Letang (Feist, Philippe Katerine) und gemixt von dem unvergleichlichen Neal Pogue (Outkast, Tyler the Creator. Das Mastering wurde von Neal Pogue (Outkast, Tyler the Creator) übernommen. Der Track, der auf jeden Fall in die gleiche, glitzernde Funkkerbe wie Parcels schlägt, ist eine erste Vorahnung, was die Fans der Band dieses Jahr noch an neuem Material erwarten können.
Das lustige Video dazu zeigt Aufnahmen einer skurrilen Miss-Wahl. Die Regisseurin selbst sagt über ihre Arbeit folgendes: “The self is at the center of the crisis of the century. We try to take on a role, to answer to many standards dictated by society and we always end up asking ourselves: “Am I like the others?”. To answer these questions, my video features a dreamy teenage girl who attends a crazy, out of the normes and wacky beauty pageant. I wanted all the characters to have strong personalities, stereotyped and far different from each other to show that we all have this grain of folly. Mixing dream and reality during a beauty pageant makes us all realize that beauty is subjective and sensitive, despite all the standards we are constantly surrounded by and that makes us “fou” (crazy).”
