Garage Punk Kann so sweet sein.
Charmant sind sie ja auf jeden Fall die drei Musiker aus York. Nur das mit dem virtuosen Beherrschen der Instrumente mussten sie bei ihrer ersten EP namens Car noch ein wenig üben. Oder war es etwa doch gewollt? Wer weiß das heute schon noch so genau bei den ganzen Garage / Punk-Bands. Im zweiten Anlauf klingen die Gitarren auf einmal nämlich doch um etliches klarer. „Dirt In My Eye“ heißt das neue Baby des Trios und ist der perfekte Soundtrack für lange, sommernächtliche Fahrten mit dem Longboard und viel DIY-Zeug.
Wenn wir jetzt aber mal das stereotype Denken bei Seite lassen, müssen wir zugeben, dass JUNK. (mit Punkt) uns da schon einen ziemlich lässigen Sound darbieten. Denn im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Bands in dem Genre, haben die Briten ein gutes Gespür für angenehme Melodien. Die Single ist ein erster Einblick in ihre nächste EP Liquorice, die im Mai via CHUD Records erscheinen wird.

The three musicians from York are definitely charming. The only thing they need to practice a bit more in their first EP, entitled Car, is technical control over their instruments. Or was that maybe the intended sound? Who knows these days when it comes to garage/punk bands. On a second listen through, the guitars suddenly sound so much clearer. “Dirt In My Eye” is the name of the trio’s new baby and is the perfect soundtrack for long, summer night rides on your longboard, dressed from head to toe in clothes you patched together with your mum’s sewing tools the night before.
Now if we stop thinking in stereotypes and clear our minds, we have to admit that JUNK. (with a full stop) presents us with a pretty laid-back, casual sound. This may be because, in contrast to many other bands in the genre, the Brits are gifted with a good ear for soft melodies. The single is a first sneak peek at their next EP Liquorice, which will be released in May through CHUD Records.
