Premiere: Frankie Lee zeigt uns seinen Buffalo

Put your boots on mit Frankie Lee und seiner neuen Single.

„Buffalo was born in the back of a station wagon on my way through the North Dakota Badlands. I had been driving for 14 hours and needed to close my eyes. When I opened them again, the sky was on fire and the oil fields were pumping blood out of the earth and this song was in my head.“

English version

Reading this artist’s biography feels like plunging into a corny western. Frankie Lee was born near the Mississippi river and later moved to Minneapolis. At age 14, he was already a regular guest on the stage, got a coke for free once in a while and left college at age 20 to streak down the American highway in his old, shabby Volvo. In Nashville, part of the rough state of Tennessee, he made a living as a cover artist and got into Western Swing.

It’s not surprising that Frankie Lee’s path of life is a big part of his musical personality that he tries to embody in his first album. Titled American Dreamer, the LP will be released on the 2nd of October this year via Loose Music. Already in advance we’ll show you the premiere of his first single called Buffalo– a song marked by the impressions and images that Lee collected on his many trips, as the following quote punctuates:

„Buffalo was born in the back of a station wagon on my way through the North Dakota Badlands. I had been driving for 14 hours and needed to close my eyes. When I opened them again, the sky was on fire and the oil fields were pumping blood out of the earth and this song was in my head.”

Even though his song is evocative of one of the many upbeat songs by Bob Dylan, Frankie Lee’s music does not seem like a poor copy. Lee’s musical background is not at all like the cardboard settings known from old Westerns. This cowboy is totally real.
